As a kid, I wished my drunken mother would get out of bed for McDonalds breakfast! It just so happened that it was a rare occurrence. But on a random Saturday, she would arise from her slumber, and my brother and I would sometimes be treated. There has always been something about the Sausage and Egg muffin that has been nostalgic to me. Over the years, I have tried almost every menu item. I have also noticed subtle changes in the quality of the food and the ambiance of the branches. The McDonalds Breakfast Menu: The Working Mans’ Brekkie I…
To be clear, I am an introvert at heart. The thought of milling through a busy market on a Saturday to peruse extremely expensive food stalls is alien to me. However, knowing that I should get out and do something with my wife and child swung this decision. If we took the early 9 am train into London, I could conduct a fair and contextual Borough Market review. I thought we would be free of the stampede of thousands of Saturday market-goers. I thought millennials woke up around midday and got to drinking their beers a few hours later. Turns…
It does feel a little bit of a cheap shot to join the queue of people hammering the McDonald’s franchise. Eddie Abbew and various world doctors shed light on what we all knew: McDonald’s is unhealthy. But, I have to comment as my last experience at one of the motorway services branches led me to many thoughts in post. One of these was about the actual intake of real food at the franchise and whether or not it exists. I ordered a McCrispy on Deliveroo to my home last night to dig deeper. The results funneled me into a spiralling evening of…
The McRib has an element of nostalgia for me. I remember as a kid having a birthday party in Hammersmith McDonalds and being allowed to eat two! However, the lack of presence of the McRib in recent years adds to the desire for one. On October 16th, 2024, it was again released into the UK market with a massive marketing campaign. The images of the stack looked somewhat reminiscent of what I remembered. To my surprise, I managed to get my hands on one regardless of the ‘It may be hard to find’ campaign by McDonalds. The McRib Bun: 18/20…
Since I was a kid, there has been an illusion that the Big Mac is a beast of a burger. I have always struggled with the concept of McDonald’s, as feeling full is short-lived. Either way, marketing would have you believe that eating a Big Mac is an experience for us heavy hitters. I have to admit that even armed with thirty-plus years of disappointment, the marketing gets me every time. There is something about walking past a London bus stop and seeing the huge burger on an appealing billboard. Alas, I was sold again. The £9.99 deal on Deliveroo…
Maybe it was nostalgia; perhaps a dedication to heritage and my personal history persuaded me to travel 2 hours to Yah So. I read through the menu online where Google said “website,” the click returned a pretty cool-looking menu sheet but no website. Nonetheless, I was excited to try the Yardie Dutty Burger (which, for the unadvised audience, is patwa for Jamaican Dirty Burger). Here’s how I got on. Before we start, a quick side note I have always wondered about the success of Chinese, Indian, and Italian restaurants compared to their Caribbean counterparts. Consider the culinary excitement at Notting Hill Carnival,…
Having tried one of Flingate’s burgers before and being mildly impressed, I thought giving the Mac Daddy a review wouldn’t be a bad idea. Remember the size of Flintgate’s Big Smoke? It was a huge burger, and I was hoping that the Mac Daddy would be of similar stature on this fine Sunday evening. Too hot to cook indoors, too much effort in the heat to walk to town, a Deliveroo order would be the only option. Read on to find out how it went. The Bun: 15/20 It’s a pretty standard brioche that tasted nice. The bun had quite a lot…
Byron have released another limited edition burger after the success in the Euros of the “Dribble” reviewed here by Cheeseburgerme. The “Hot Trick” certainly sounds interesting and with Halloween coming up, why not get into the festive spirit! Check out the article here:
The thought of eating insects repulses me, I cannot lie. I think the whole “I’m a Celebrity” thing is quite cool to watch on television but the fact remains, cooked or uncooked, insects are not for me! I mean, the thought of eating mealworms or maggots is more disturbing than it is funny. How people can expect this to be something that takes off into a global market is beyond me but hey, let’s see where it goes! Have a read of this article let us know what YOU think?!
After being cancelled last year due to the pandemic Winter Wonderland once again opened its doors to the public for Christmas. The booking procedure was a little different having to book in ‘sessions’ in an attempt to limit the number of people attending the Hyde Park venue. I have not been to Winter Wonderland before; I have only seen it on multiple social media profiles and spoken to friends about it. My son’s birthday seemed a perfect opportunity to debut in Winter Wonderland, London, albeit in a quiet morning session from 10 am – 1 pm. Booking System and Entry…
