Vegan Burger, Kim K and Beyond Meat

The world of vegan substitutes seem to be teetering on the edge of a rocket ship aiming straight at the very essence of good carnivore 101’s; the Burger. I am genuinely surprised at the way “ambassadors” continue their intrusion on different markets, using their social influence to obtain revenue from companies that could be considered morally incorrect to say the least. We will get on to Kim Kardashian in due course, but firstly I think we should address the elephant in the room, with a completely unbiased and opinionated article by yours truly.

    Veganaism, Burgers and Vegtarians

Yep, you read the title correctly. The heading is about incongruous as a drag queen in Dubai. Seriously, veggie, vegan, and burger? Now, let me first begin by explaining I was actually vegan for a period of around 8 months in a failed attempt to become a little less of a meat eater in the holy grail search of a six-pack. Did it work? No. Was I leaner? Yes. But, I also should admit that when I began the journey, I too began to climb my proverbial high horse and began to be a little condescending to my meat-eating counterparts. In fact, after watching the vegan movie “The Game Changer” I was once again inspired to consider ‘cleansing’ myself from my beloved meat passion. That lasted all of two days the following time, soon realising that I became a little indoctrinated by the six-pack and muscles.

Vegans can have a pretty diverse diet, as do can vegetarians. Is the food nice? Guess that is a matter of preference and for some of us, a matter of willpower. Let’s be completely honest, how many of us would like to get a chunk of fake meat sandwiched between two gluten-free buns and a cheese that requires a temperature of one million degrees before it melts? If I have offended some of the vegan community I do apologise, but I bet if a poll was ran against 1000 people the majority would take the instragrammable mound of beef with cascading cholesterol-inducing cheese! I mean seriously, have you seen our review on Hawksmoor, Canary Wharf Big Matt?

Beyond Meat, is it as good as Meat?

The real question is, why do you want it to be? I mean, you are never ever going to replace the richness of beef, it just cannot be done – unless you have some out of this world new technology that we are just waiting to receive in our existence. Is it healthier? Probably. But, I am of the old school, everything is healthy….. in moderation. We tried a Beyond Meat Burger from one of the best restaurants in the UK and it scored poorly! There is just something about eating meat that isn’t meat, it just doesn’t taste right. I tried the McPlant Burger for a review and genuinely felt that someone was taking me for a ride.

For someone that has never eaten meat or is genuinely trying to make an effort to lessen their intake of meat, I guess the option is viable and helpful. In the advertising I have noticed that Beyond Meat advertise “More meatier Taste” which is debatable. Conversely, if someone gave me a sweet potato patty, I would be pretty happy. In fact I have had multiple bean and sweet potato patties and they were some of my favourite whilst being a fleeting vegan. If you want to eat vegetables, eat vegetables. I wouldn’t walk into Five Guys and ask for a vegan option, I would go to Itsu or one of the multiple places that are more specialised for that variety of food.

The Vegan Entourage vs Meat Guys

As I have already admitted, I became one of those guys, heckling my friends about their disgusting habit of killing animals and eating their flesh. In fact, I began to lose friends over my tofu-eating obsession for 8 months. People are generally opinionated in areas they are passionate about, understandably. Of all the social media accounts I have followed so many influencers or ‘public figures’ (whatever that is) have begun to take shots at vegans in their captions. Perhaps it is a retaliation of theirs whilst watching the extremely vocal, opinionated, and sometimes damn right rude vegans promote their food like some underground cult.

If someone wants to eat meat, leave them alone. Likewise, if someone wants to chow down on plastic tasting meat, or a mound of vegetables, that’s fine with me. Veganism is one of the surging verticals in the world right now and, understandabley, it could be better for the environment to eat plants. Still, we are over 2000 years in now and the world hasn’t exploded and animals are still breeding. If we have to move to a rat burger in 50 years then I wouldn’t be too happy but surely at some stage there was an adjustment to eating meat as we know it now.

    Kim Kardashian Vegan Burger Mess

From my limited research (as I tend to use my free time searching for burgers or grilling cows) I found Kim K turned Vegan somewhere around 2019. She also openly admits to ‘caving now and then’ and eating meat on occasion. If veganism fulfilled you then why would you turn to meat? Her latest statement in an interview in April 2022 reads:

Kim Kardashian’s Figure Can Be Attributed to Her Largely Staying Committed to a Plant-Based Diet

It just begs the question if this inspiring statement which was headlined in a popular magazine was to help in the promotion of her latest “Ambassador” role with the one and only Beyond Meat. Their advertising masterclass (which almost certainly is in conjunction with her latest statement) went as far to show her in this image:

Perhaps it is the exceptional pallet Kim Kardshian is famed for, or the perfectly half-cut burger by which she perfectly shaved with her teeth that grabs attention. More to the point, it is the ostentatious pose, Game of Thrones like hair (which I thought was trending last year) and name brand that is Kim Kardashian that has allowed for Beyond Meat to bully themselves into our beloved burger sector again!

    Authenticity, Likes and Burgers

I love a burger. My best friend, loves a burger. In fact, I struggle to know many people that don’t love a burger. I am not saying that everyone I know wants to write a review, or dissect a burger as we do, but there is something enjoyable about a messy burger. Instagram is a huge source for foodies to share their creations or circulate places they have been to promote places they enjoy. The rise of influence in the social media platforms is threatening to dismantle some of the good work hard working people do on a daily basis, especially in the food sector. If Kim Kardshian says Beyond Meat tastes like Five Guys, there would be many that believe it. Except me, I would call and complain as I am getting older and swearing at a television advert seems a little more petulant than it did!

We have a hit list full of, what we consider to be, the best burgers in London. This has been through blood sweat and tears eating these, haha, I joke – this has been the pleasure of all of us at Cheeseburgerme that get to go to amazing restaurants both small and large to try our favorite food, burgers. Whether you like us, don’t like us, follow us, or don’t follow us – we bring honesty and completely unbiased reviews to a competitive food niche that requires, deserves and demands, that the restaurants should be discussed for their efforts. Good or Bad. The world is closing in, it is changing and quickly. Experts are experts, and by my estimation, Kim Kardashian has already been an expert in god knows how many areas and Burgers is not one of them.
