For someone that has not been a fan of fast food restaurants, Burger King has become a little gem for me of late. There is something about the speed of the process that I have found quite cool in my adult years. I saw the app download on my Android device and thought I would give it a download. Then, I saw so many deals at Burger King, my eyes lit up. The Triple Stacker for three pounds was something that looked like something worth giving a go. Read on to see how it went!

The Bun: 15/20

Things started off well with the bun on the Triple Stacker. I like the seeded buns that Burger King offers, especially when they go through a bit of TLC. I have had some burgers there where the bun has arrived a little stale and completely ruined the burger. Thankfully, the Triple Stacker came with a pretty decent bun, what you would expect I guess; not stale!

The Toppings: 4/10

The onion rings that come in this stack are pretty good from an aesthetic point of view. But, the tasteless rings do not offer much in terms of altering the flavour. If anything, the onion rings gave a slightly crisp texture that disrupted the usual sensations of eating a burger. However, if they would have had a bit more in the way of taste, they could have been a worthwhile addition. It seems to me that they are something cheap to throw into the stack which enables a bit of a burger-porn image. I mean, what is the cost of two strips of onion in the batter? Probably about 2p I guess!

The Condiments: 5/10

Burger King has touted the Triple Stack to have a “Smoky BBQ Sauce” in the stack. Well, the BBQ was smoky, and did have a half-decent flavour, but there was hardly any in the burger. In fact, I opened it up to find that there had been one ill-fated slap of it on one side! In Burger King’s defence, it was a busy lunchtime and there were tens of children waiting for their lunch. However, if you are going to serve something, it is rule of thumb to at least have some pride in what you deliver.

As the sauce goes, it was a little tangy for me. The smokiness was okay, but it missed that little bit of sweetness that you would expect in a BBQ sauce. The sweetness tends to nullify the vinegary flavour that can be often associated with a bad BBQ sauce.

The Cheese: 7/20

Burger King really get on my nerves in the cheese department. The Triple Stacker is an ideal opportunity to make this burger not only look good but taste good. Three slices of American Cheese, if melted would cause a cascading melt of cheese down the sides. Instead, I had three rubbery-looking pieces of cheese incongruously sitting rigid in the stack. Honestly, the attention to detail is horrifying. I mean, have you ever eaten American Cheese raw, it is tasteless and hard. The only thing that can make the difference in the Burger King kitchen in this stack is piping hot patties, which for sure, I didn’t get!

The Patty (s): 7/20

I am a little bit of a fan of the Burger King Whopper which we reviewed not so long ago, you can read the Whopper review. There is something about the smokiness you get on the Whopper that makes Burger King one of the stand-out fast food restaurants. However, it seems with every other burger you get bland-tasting meat that is not a patch on the Whopper. Even three patties still failed to offer any type of meatiness in this stack. I cannot moan enough about the meat. Every patty was cold, tasteless, and reminiscent of something that you put in the oven at home from Iceland.

The Taste: 7/20

Even for three quid, I thought I would have had something at least comparable to the Whopper. As it happens, I had something that is perfectly reflective of the cheap pricing. A poor, below-average, and cheap burger.

Our Verdict: 45/100

I am still curious to find a stack at Burger King that can be compared with The Whopper. This burger certainly wasn’t it. Unfortunately, the Triple Stacker failed to live up to the images and Burger King stole my three quid! I definitely would not eat this burger again, I think the Guildford Burger King did enough damage to this stack! However, the BK app is certainly worth downloading. There are a ton of deals there that can make you fat, loads of additionals and freebies worth checking out. Head over to Burger King if you fancy checking it out!
